Do you have to label AI-generated content in the United States?
California's amended AI Transparency Act (SB 942) took effect on 2 August 2026. It requires generative AI providers with over 1 million monthly users to embed latent disclosures in AI images, audio and video.
A federal AI Labeling Act of 2026 (S.4915) has been introduced in the Senate. It is a bill, not law.
