Do you need a photo permit in New York City, NY?
Personal shoots
No film permit needed with a handheld camera, a camera on a tripod, or handheld props and equipment, under the city's conditions. In Central Park, handheld or tripod photography needs no permit.
Paid & commercial shoots
Shoots beyond those conditions (crews, vehicles, sets, reserved space) need a permit from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.
